Bronze Works
These bronze works are in connection with my graduation proposal, I’m not the first, nor am I the last. These works connect with the idea of making art for joy. I have always loved spiders and I connect with their symbolism deeply. Wanting to show my respect for spiders, this laborious process of bronze sculpting is likened to a spider making their web.
The Crown came after, inspired by a dream of a friend adorned with a spider crown. The intricate and demanding process of crafting a bronze crown mirrors the themes of strength and connection I explore in my work. The crack in the piece was unintentional, a result of reinforcing the structure, and it revealed layers of unexpected symbolism. This flaw became a metaphor(is that ass butt writing) for resilience and the beauty found in imperfection, adding depth to the work’s narrative.
