Idgie Kagan comes from a rich, complex tapestry of cultural heritage that profoundly influences her work. In these pieces, Idgie draws from her father's Russian-Jewish lineage as he grew up in the soviet union during the Cold War.

Through investigating her relationship with this history and the intricacy of her father's relationship with his past, Idgie uses colours, symbols and potato printing techniques reminiscent of those in communist propaganda posters to explore her position within her familial past and create a bridge between generations that invites reflection on personal and historical narratives.
